Not Quite Ordinary Observations

For Today...Monday, July 11, 2016

In the great outdoors...a reprieve! Yesterday afternoon, a thunderstorm swept through and dropped the temperature a full 25 degrees! Although it didn’t get much cooler overnight, it also hasn’t warmed up today. So, despite the pretty high humidity, we’re enjoying the mid-70’s for as long as we can. It’s supposed to get back up into the mid to upper 90’s by this afternoon, but I’m just not going to think about that!

Within our four walls...very quiet. We had a late night last night, so the kids are all quietly progressing through their morning while I work down my checklist before “going to work.”

A heart of thanksgiving...for the cool weather.

A heart of prayer...for so many things. I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit’s ability to help gather my jumbled cries and turn them into effective prayers. My heart aches over so many needs and issues (for lack of a better word right now), and it’s hard sometimes to truly pour it all out in words. Yes, even for someone whose “expertise” is words. Yet, the Lord still hears me and still responds in such amazing ways.

Thoughts from the kitchen...rotisserie chicken. Not on the menu plan, but Steven loves them, so we snagged him one over the weekend. Chicken, rice, and green beans sound like a good lunch.

On my bookshelf...school books. The shelf is just full of school books as I continue to process through planning.

Projects...Angela’s dress is finished (mostly done on her own). I have a thought for Steven’s birthday – I suppose I need to get going on that!

Sounds of the moment...crickets. The birds are usually incredibly loud around this time of the morning, but they are much more in the background today. Well, except the crow in the back yard.

From Hibbard Academy...I almost have Olivia’s sophomore year laid out. Just literature left. Steven and Angie should be much easier since I don’t have to worry about how all of the assignments will be graded and how much weight they will carry toward the overall grade.

A favorite thing from last week...rain on Saturday. I love rain!

The planner...this is a meeting week for Doug, so our evenings will be a little “off.” But, we’ll all get to enjoy time with friends Tuesday evening., Otherwise, it’s a week of preparing for the upcoming three weeks – our last gasp of insanity for the summer as the girls and I go to PraiseWorks next week, then we send Doug off to Peru for the two weeks after that.

Because visuals are fun...Angie bright and colorful dress
