Not Quite Ordinary Observations
We left Sunday afternoon to head to LR to get ready for this year’s state convention meeting, and we got home Wednesday in time to collect our thoughts a bit before church. I meant to have blog posts scheduled before we left, but I ran out of time. So, I thought I’d just post the Observations today!
For Today...Friday, November 4, 2011
Outside my window...a cloudy, rather gloomy-looking (but dry) day; leaves all over the ground (ours are mostly just brown around here due to lack of rain, but we did see some gorgeous colors when we were in LR this week); Steven and Angie outside enjoying the delightful fall chill.
I am thinking...about how quickly the weeks are passing.
I am thankful for...the chance to take it easy the last few days of this week to recover from being away for four days.
I am wearing...jeans, blue knit top
I am creating...order from chaos so I can get back to working on Christmas presents. The kids and I are supposed to work together this weekend.
I am remembering...convention trips in other states. For the record, Arkansas is an awesome state to be in Baptist ministry.
I am going...to get caught up. Really I am.
I am reading...just finished The Doctor’s Lady by Jody Hedlund. Makes me want to read a real biography of Marcus and Narcissa Whitman. A book entitled A Woman’s Guide to Fasting is next on the review list.
I am hoping...for a cold winter. I like cold winters. And the kids really want to see more snow this year.
I am hearing...the washing machine and dryer. So thankful for both of them!
On my mind...a children’s story I’d like to write for my children to give to them for Christmas. Anyone out there who can draw cartoonish ducks to illustrate my story?
From the learning rooms...the week off for convention.
Noticing that...when I face the computer, I can pretend there aren’t massive piles of laundry and other things behind me demanding to be put away.
Pondering these words... When God becomes the means to the end, unity is never achieved; when God Himself is the end, the glorious byproducts of unity and peace are never far behind. ~D.A. Carson
From the kitchen...a full menu plan – with the grocery shopping and some of the cooking done as well! – covering the rest of 2011! Finally! I hate doing the menu planning, but it always helps so much when I do. It is such a relief to have that done and posted. Ahhhhh….
Around the house...clutter. I left a mostly tidy house on Sunday, but not completely tidy. And I haven’t gotten everything completely back in order.
One of my favorite things...getting chilly at night and burrowing under the covers (not to mention the warm snuggles!). I so miss all of that in the summer.
A few plans for the rest of the week...work on Christmas creations, tackle the clutter, get next week’s school prep done early so we can enjoy company on Monday.
A picture worth sharing...enjoying a chilly day a few weeks ago – they were watching their science DVD. Yep, school can be rough, can’t it?
