Amazingly enough, the garden really is growing! As you can see, the corn is sprouting nicely in its helpful rows.
Everything else looks more like this…clumps of something in the midst of lots of grass.
We think we have identified most of what is growing so far, but other than the corn very little is right where the seeds were planted. Most of it has been washed into clumps, some distinctly one plant or the other, and some a combination of different plants.
But every last bit of it is surrounded by weeds and dead leaves. We don’t know if we’ll ever actually get it all cleaned up. Next year (or whenever we are able to try again), raised beds will definitely be the way we have to go to truly control the water level and grass.
Until then, we’ll just do our best and see what sort of harvest we manage to get, if any!
