Not Quite Ordinary Observations

For Today...Monday, May 16, 2011

Outside my window...a gorgeous, unseasonably cool spring day in north Louisiana: bright sunshine filtering through the trees of my in-law’s little fenced-in back yard.

I am thinking...how much I enjoy a screened-in back porch on days like this. This is delightful!

I am thankful for...safety in all our traveling in recent days, and a vehicle with over 200,000 miles on it still chugging along even on long trips like this.

I am wearing...coral skirt, sea green top with braided trim around the neckline, bare feet, hair down

I am creating...Olivia’s new sock doll, at least one outfit for him, a new nightgown, and an idea for what Steven is going to give Olivia for her birthday.

I am remembering...what it was like to be almost ten. I think I had a slumber party for my birthday that year. We camped out in the living room and were VERY goofy that night.

I am going...to enjoy the last couple of days away, but will also enjoy getting home again.

I am reading...The Secrets Beneath by Kathleen Fuller

I am hoping...that the email with Doug’s final comes in very soon so he can go ahead and take it early in the day.

I am hearing...the wind chimes just outside the screened porch, Angela’s hammering as she and Steven play out here, muffled voices from inside the house.

On my mind...the people still dealing with flooding; the Choates as they close out their village stay and face a very busy week even while they’re packing.

From the learning rooms...vacation!!

Noticing that...the kids seem to be very much enjoying themselves.

Pondering these words... “…who are chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure.” 1 Pet 1:2  Much to ponder here.

From the kitchen...the realization that I did not menu plan for the rest of the week – will have to do that as soon as we get home!

One of my favorite things...kids playing well together.

A few plans for the rest of the week...another relaxing day today with just a few plans here and there; possibly a trip to Vicksburg tomorrow, depending on flood conditions and how they affect our route home; home on Tuesday evening; Mom coming for a visit Wed-Fri; our friend Rebekah coming for the rest of the weekend.

A picture worth sharing...when we got home from our LR weekend, I asked Steven if he had unpacked his bag. He said he had. Then I walked into the living room and found this on the couch…but, hey, he did unpack! Just not quite according to Mommy’s standards. 100_9116

Sounds like a lovely morning. Good luck (luck?) to Doug on his exam.
